The Appeal
Some cars were born to greatness, others had greatness thrust upon them and yet other, like the Porsche 924, took a little longer to show their hand.
Conceived as a Volkswagen, built as a Porsche the 924 was a major departure from the firm’s rear engine output. It evolved into the 944 and is now rated as one of the best sports cars from a company known for its sports cars. With great handling thanks to great balance and a svelte coupe shape, early cars are sought after.
This is one of the 1,030 Le Mans special editions built to celebrate the firm’s success at the race track in the same year. Alongside some choice cosmetic enhancements, this model got revised M030 suspension to improve the handling.
In very good, original condition and retaining all of its Le Mans features, this low mileage car is a great introduction to the delights of the rewarding 924.

Only 1,030 Le Mans specification cars were built. The specification included:
- Alpine White (code P1) bodywork
- Three colour decorative pinstripes around body
- Le Mans bodywork decals
- Door sill trims with 924 script
- sports shock absorbers
- Anti roll bars front and rear
- Rear spoiler
- Black lattice style alloys with lathe-turned spokes
- Black vinyl seats with pinstripe fabric inserts
- Leather four spoke steering wheel
- Optional rear wash wipe
The Condition
- Classic, stylish 924 profile with pop up lamps and big rear glasshouse
- Highly original car sporting all of its Le Mans special features
- Car appears to be a solid and unrestored example reflecting low mileage
- Smart white paintwork accented by pinstriping, decals and stylish Turbo alloys
- Small areas of what appear to be touched in paint on nose
- Underside presents well with clean painting of underseal
- Pirelli 15 inch tyres showing good condition and tread
- Alloy wheels in good order with only light kerbing visible to edges
- Red brake calipers neatly enhance the exterior
- Optional rear wash wipe fitted plus headlamp washers
- Porsche windscreen decal
- Interior very well preserved and correct to Le Mans spec with pinstripe fabric seats
- Seats are well preserved front and back betraying little wear supporting low mileage
- Interior trim and fittings well kept being complete and undamaged
- Features include electric windows and period Blaupunkt Casablanca radio cassette
- Four spoke wheel appears to have had leather trim removed but otherwise well kept
- Dials are clear and well kept with smart auxiliary VDO dials to centre console
- Headlining in good order in dark finish with no visible marks or sagging
- Carpets match black interior but have bleached slightly in sun to dark brown
- They are protected with black Porsche branded over mats
- Boot area in good order with complete trim showing on visible damage
The Mechanics
- 2 litre EA831 Volkswagen engine developing 120bhp
- Later 5 speed Audi-sourced gearbox in traditional shift pattern
- Photographs indicate that the car was last serviced in September 2022
