The Appeal

With the E24 you sense that BMW’s designers and engineers slogged long and hard, because whether you’re drawn by the shark-nosed Paul Bracq looks, the silky M30 straight six or the ‘ultimate driving machine’ dynamics, this is a classic coupe that is close to perfection.

Here is a really good example of the E24 with that 3.4L 215bhp engine. Finished in period-appropriate Henna Red, it is a nicely detailed car with a set of five factory ‘bottle cap’ alloys and a tidy black leather cabin. The rims are the original 'metric' ones, which the seller has kept for originality and for the buyer to choose whether they want to replace or retain. Like many E24s it has the 4spd auto box, making it a relaxing long distance mile muncher.

The vendor acquired the car in 2021. He tells us that it received a full bare metal respray a year before he bought it. Careful garaging in a dehumidified environment plus evident sparing use has kept that work in good order. That sense is underlined by the lengthy voluntary MOT, which runs to May 2027.
