The Appeal

Porsche was determined to replace its rear-engined 911, and we're we're glad this never came to pass, a period of reinvention during the 1970s and '80s did spawn some brilliant front-engined cars from the Stuttgart manufacturer. The 944 was one if them: The mid-range offering which bridged the gap between entry-level 924 and full-bore GT, the 928. Today, a Porsche 944 represents one of the most accessible entry points into classic Porsche ownership, offering beautifully balanced handling thanks to its transaxle layout.

This 1989 example is commendably original, even down to the paintwork, so far as the vendor is aware. The car has been stored carefully, used sparingly and serviced regularly, resulting in a highly usable, well-sorted sports car that's ready to enjoy.
