The Appeal
The Gilera Saturno Bialbero is a rare breed of Italian single-cylinder motorcycles that captured the hearts of press reviewers in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The Saturno was, in many ways, a bit of a retro callback. A single-cylinder machine based upon raw fun and thrills without attempting pure, high-octane performance. Built by Gilera specifically for the Japanese market, it combined Italian flair with meticulous hand-built construction.
They're also exceptionally rare, with 2,000 units produced worldwide - only a handful of which were sent off to Europe. Each motorcycle was hand-built one by one by a team of just six factory technicians, with most examples painted red, only a handful finished in yellow and a scant number in black, just like this one.
Imported from Japan and registered in the UK in September 2024, this Saturno has covered just 357 kilometres since arriving on British shores. Currently SORN, it was last used in September 2025 and presents as a standard, well-maintained example, with plenty of new parts fitted when required.
