The Defender is, of course, one of the most popular 4x4s money can buy, and for good reason. The platform offers impressive capability, near-endless practicality, and at its core; a thoroughly enjoyable ownership experience. Following its rebuild in 2017, this Defender was treated to an impressive array of interior goodies to suit the new mechanical upgrades. Perhaps chief among which, are the reclining Corbeau bucket seats up front, and the Land Rover XS seats in the rear. Having covered very few miles since being fitted, all seats present themselves brilliantly, with hardly any signs of use to show.

Additionally, passengers are treated to a tidy set of Autobiography rubber floor mats, and genuine Mud UK door cards, complete with netting for storage. You’ll also notice a stylish three-spoke Mountney steering wheel, dual cigarette lighter ports, and a single DIN Pioneer head unit.

The vehicle also sports a heavy-duty hood stick set and comes topped with a new Exmoor Trim mohair hood. Reflecting excellent care, the mohair hood is indeed in excellent condition, offering a tidy, watertight finish with very few blemishes to show.

Overall, the interior retains a very impressive condition throughout, showcasing some tasty upgrades, with only very minor signs of age to show.

The Exterior

Finished in a striking shade of red, this 90 certainly stands out from the crowd, offering plenty of shine, and catching the sunlight brilliantly. There are of course a few of the expected blemishes to expect, and the paintwork would likely benefit from a machine polish, but this remains a very presentable, and usable Defender.

Accompanying the eye-catching paintwork is a set of 22” Range Rover alloy wheels, which pair brilliantly with a four-inch lift kit to provide a comfortable ride and excellent clearance. As the images reflect, the wheels are in fantastic condition and come complete with matching centre caps, and near-new all-terrain Cooper Discoverer tyres to enjoy.

All additional details, such as the upgraded LED lights, and Truckman headlights are also in fantastic order, offering flawless function, and well-preserved finishes. As previously mentioned, the Exmoor Trim mohair hood follows suit, showing clear windows, and a tidy, watertight finish all around.

In summary, this Defender presents a very attractive overall finish, befitting from a few subtle upgrades, and an eye-catching paint job. With a little dash of TLC, it seems rather likely an even greater finish is achievable, although the current exterior finish is certainly very presentable and usable as is.

Although the eye-catching exterior and interior upgrades are a tasty treat, the real gem hides within the engine bay, in the form of a 6.2L GMC diesel V8. The engine was fitted as part of a thorough rebuild in 2017, alongside a Range Rover auto gearbox, uprated disc brakes, a four-inch lift kit, and a stainless steel exhaust system.

In addition to the aforementioned upgrades, this Defender has also been fully serviced with new fluids, and reportedly retains fantastic chassis, and bulkhead health, with no known welding required, or previous repairs.

As a result of the mechanical upgrades, excellent maintenance and minimal miles covered, buyers will be pleased to know that the vehicle fires up right away, and performs brilliantly. The 6.2L GMC V8 provides an abundance of torque and blesses the driver with a magnificent roar throughout the gears.

This is a Defender that will no doubt provide plenty of fun either on, or indeed off the roads for many more miles to come.

Summary

Even in its base form, the Land Rover Defender does of course remain a very capable vehicle, offering a thoroughly enjoyable ownership experience. In this case, however, the vehicle is taken to new heights, as a result of a V8 engine swap, snazzy interior upgrades, and a selection of mechanical improvements, all of which combine to produce a very enjoyable, and comfortable driving experience.
