The Appeal
We see a fair few ex-MOD Land Rovers, but it's exceedingly rare to find any with so much as an iota of known military history - such was the nature of their covert use, presumably. But that's where this rather smart 1998 Defender 90 Wolf differs.
The vendor acquired the Land Rover in September 2021 from a Norfolk-based Land Rover specialist - Classic Offroad LTD, who had sourced the vehicle directly from the military at auction. It was used as a parade vehicle in the 2016 Lord Mayor's Show by the army. This can be verified by video and photographic evidence available online when one searches the military registration number (LL46AA).
It has been subject to upgrade programs throughout its military life and has reportedly been dry stored. The current owner has carried out general maintenance, and the towing system has been improved by the addition of an interchangeable civilian-type tow hitch. Otherwise, as the photographs show, the Wolf remains true to its military specifications, including rifle racks, map-reading lamp, convoy lighting switch, instrument light covers, stickers, and signage. It also has the correct military jacking system, pioneer tools, and towing strop.
Approximately 5,000 km has been covered since the last major service, and the Land Rover benefits from a recent oil change performed by the vendor. The MOT runs until October 2025.
