The Appeal
It is testament to the essential rightness of Morgan’s 4/4 - and the fact that nothing else is quite like it - that it remained in production for 82 years. The principle remained the same - classic looks with reliable, economical yet sufficiently powerful engines - but Morgan continuously refined it.
The later ‘Zetec’ era cars are arguably the pick of the bunch - a 4/4 that look vintage but drive like a modern one. Equipped with Ford’s reliable and economical Zetec R 120bhp 4cyl engine mated to a 5 spd gearbox, they are great for touring and relaxed weekend drives.
This exceptionally low mileage 4/4 1800 Zetec has covered less than 20,000 miles from new. Classically finished in Austin Blue - a lovely deep colour - with black leather interior, it has been cherished by its keepers. The current one bought it because he had wanted one since childhood and is now only reluctantly selling due to a change of circumstances.
Alongside regular servicing, recent work has included a new black roof and tonneau. The car is in good, very usable condition and wears its age very lightly thanks to that sparing use.

“This vehicle is my dream car. I always wanted a Morgan since my father bought me a model Morgan when I was a young boy. It has had regular maintenance checks to ensure the full working order.
“The reflection of light and colour along the finned bonnet is a unique sight. The heater is excellent and keeps the driver very warm when the top cover is in place. It is a real pleasure to drive in the countryside. Be prepared to have admirers taking pictures and compliments whenever in public!”
