The Appeal

In the early Noughties, if you had to transport clients on weekdays and dogs, luggage and family at weekends, all conducted with the utmost of speed, then you weren’t spoilt for choice. Audi, BMW and Mercedes all offered quick estates. But none were quite like the C5 A6 Avant in RS6 or S6 form.

Thanks to Quattro tech they were as surefooted as they were quick. The S6 shared its 4.2L engine with the RS6 but delivered a more real-world friendly level of performance. That said, 340bhp and 0-60 mph in under 6secs is surely enough to excite your passengers and hounds.

This smart, factory-standard S6 definitely looks the part, exhibiting the understated style for which the C5 is known. It was fully resprayed to a high standard in 2017. Aside from some badging it is hard to tell apart form a humdrum A6, which is surely key to its appeal. It is in good order throughout, the black leather interior showing little wear. There are a few marks to the switchgear in the usual C5 areas, but nothing unsightly.

With MOT to December 2025, this Uber wagon is ready for some luggage- and family-centric adventures.
