The Appeal

With spring on our doorstep and longer days ahead, an SL350 is the perfect companion for anyone in the mood for a punchy and comfortable drive. This super example wears its years very well and is highly equipped even by the most modern standards.

The interior is adorned with leather, heated and ventilated seats and, of course, an electronically operated roof. Meanwhile, the exterior is superbly well kept with barely a mark to be seen and the wheels too are in top order and likely have been treated to refurbishment at some point. The vendor reports that it drives superbly with no fuss under acceleration and a fine accompanying soundtrack.

If you're after a sporting convertible that's practical in all weathers and has been well maintained, then this handsome SL simply must be considered.

Exceptional condition with minimal wear in the high contact areas including seat bolsters showing minimal evidence of wear

Presented with a wood trim dashboard and steering wheel which have a very high gloss and no evidence of UV damage or otherwise

Anti-reflective coating on the sat-nav system screen has some discolouration but does not affect use
No telltales showing on the dashboard while the engine is running
Original radio has been retained along with a CD changer behind the passenger seat
Original floor mats are in nice condition with low wear

The Exterior

Presented in a bright silver, this SL looks absolutely fantastic with a good gloss to the paint surface and minimal marks anywhere.
The original 18-inch alloy wheels are in very good order with no kerbing or blistering that we saw
The brake callipers all round would benefit from a coat of paint to get them matching again as some have been replaced
Electronically operated roof works perfectly and quickly
All the light lenses seem to be moisture and damage free
The external badging and trim looks to be complete and presents well
Underneath, the floors and sills looks to be straight and clean, with no damage apparent

The Mechanics

No evidence we could discern of any major leaks under the engine or transmission

Summary

All round this SL is very well presented and cared for. Starting on the button, everything appears to be in top order with no reason for doubt given.

Out on the road the automatic transmission shifted seamlessly and the punchy V6 did its job perfectly. Throughout the interior all is well, with all the switches and knobs not really showing any wear at all and overall still achieving the luxury feel that was intended from the factory. When it comes to luxury convertibles, this is a tough one to beat for the price.
