The Appeal
As an example of quality coachbuilding in the modern age, the Mulliner-built Arnage T is as good as it gets. Dripping with luxurious appointments and benefitting from the kind of build quality usually reserved for stately homes, it’s the kind of powerful, opulent ‘gentleman’s express’ that has made Bentley famous over the decades.
Here we have a very nicely specified example, presented with lovely low mileage, a good history and a superb specification. If you’re looking for a car that can whisk you across continents in whisper-quiet luxury with effortless elegance, then look no further.

Swathed in Linen leather, with Beluga piping, the interior is a haven of serene luxury. All the leather appears to be in excellent condition, with barely any visible marks, and only the lightest signs of use.
Similarly, the black carpets and matched lamb’s wool overmats are in fine condition, with no signs of damage we could see. We’re assured that the headliner is in excellent order, with no sagging or damage.
With a full bank of gauges dotted across the dashboard fascia, and very high quality switchgear, the driving compartment is more akin to something from a luxury yacht than a car. As far as we could see, there is no notable wear or marking to any of the instruments or switchgear, and it’s nice to see proper physical controls when so many vehicles today rely on touchscreens. We really like the Piano Black trim, it offers a much more modern feel compared to the usual wood veneer. There are other luxury touches in the cabin, including rear picnic tables and a small cooler fridge, and even an original Nokia phone in the front armrest.
The boot area is, as usual in an Arnage, extremely commodious, with more than enough space for a number of cases. Trimmed with smart black carpet, it also features the original toolkit.
We’re told by the vendor that the paintwork has recently been professionally polished, and it certainly looks to be in very good condition, with a deep shine and lustrous finish. We didn’t see any signs of damage or notable marks. We’re told by the vendor that there has been some repainting to the off-side front wing, but it’s clearly been very well done.
The bodywork is in similarly good condition, with no damage or corrosion evident. The panels look smooth and the panel gaps all look even. It’s complemented with plenty of brightwork, which all looks in fine fettle, that iconic large front grille shimmering very nicely. Apparently, there is some minor peel to the chrome of the off-side mirror, but nothing that would concern us.
It rides on the original 19” alloy wheels, which are in very good order and still offer plenty of sidewall to aid that cushioned ride. The tyres are a matched set of Pirellis, which appear to be in good condition, with healthy levels of tread.
Looking under the car, the underside presents very well, with no evidence we could discern of damage or corrosion. It’s all very clean, tidy and confidence-inspiring.
With that iconic and barrel-chested twin-turbo V8 offering a massive 450bhp and 875Nm, there’s more than enough power on tap to shove this vast limo along at huge pace. The engine bay itself is very clean and tidy, with no evidence of leaks or damage we could see.
Accompanying that huge V8, the ZF automatic transmission offers the kind of smooth and unruffled progress you’d expect from a Bentley.
We’re told by the vendor that the car drives very well, accelerating well, riding smoothly and shifting as it should. We’re also told there are no leaks, no smoke under load and no untoward noises when driving.ENG.jpg557.28 KB
Summary
Few cars carry the cache of a Bentley when it comes to being a luxury limousine. Beautifully finished with impeccable material quality and a very high specification, there are few cars on the road that offer the kind of palatial comfort and deep performance of a Bentley Arnage R.
This example is finished in an attractive colour scheme, with a high spec, genuinely low mileage and a good service history. It would make for superb daily luxury transport, or as something to wheel out for special occasions or trips to the south of France.
