The Appeal
The 997 was what enthusiasts were waiting for: all the modern brilliance of the 996 but with a return to the classic aesthetics of the earlier cars. If you’re buying one of these highly regarded sports cars, then it is all about provenance and specification.
On those two important points, this car scores firmly. Finished in the classic combination of silver metallic with black leather, it has the clever, versatile Targa roof - offering coupe aesthetics with hatchback practicality - and the ‘4S’ package that adds surefooted AWD plus the 360bhp 3.8L flat six. Then there’s the factory-fitted optional SportChrono package.
The condition reflects the care of its keepers. Likewise, the history file shows a consistent run of servicing right up to February 2025. Alongside that major service, the car received a new water pump and thermostat, new engine mounts, top mounts, and track rod ends. A useful borescore was also conducted, which came back clear.
This is a very well specified example of one of Porsche’s finest. It even has an appropriate private plate. With MOT to July containing no advisories, it looks ready to enjoy.
