Highlights
A very lightly used example of the powerhouse Jaguar XKR supercharged coupe
In an excellent condition throughout commensurate with its 25,000-mile history
Complete with a full Jaguar service history and long, current MOT
The Appeal
The XKR was the high-performance derivative of the already popular and powerful XK8, Jaguar’s much vaunted XJS successor. The original XKR joined the range in 1998, dialling up the already robust performance of the standard XK8 by fitting a huge Eaton supercharger to the AJ-V8 engine.
The first XKR’s were of a 4L capacity but in 2002 that was increased to 4.2L This was enough to ultimately unleash a mighty 420bhp, sufficient for a 5 second 0-60 mph time and the ability to reach the electronically limited 155 mph top speed very soon afterwards.
This is a lightly used example having covered an average of little over 1,500 a year. As such it presents in an excellent and pristine condition throughout. Add to this the popular and sporting Stratus Grey over Ivory colourway and full Jaguar service history and you have a rarely seen example that really belies its 15-year age.
The History and Paperwork
This XKR is a UK specification and supplied car from new
It was first supplied by Appleyard Jaguar in Bradford
This was in November 2008 the same date as the car’s first registration
The first owner appears to have retained the car for around six years
The second owner acquired the car in 2014 at around 16,000 miles
This owner used and enjoyed the car until July 2022
In this time the second owner only added around 9,000 miles in that time
The current owner acquired the XKR in July 2022
The car today has only covered little over 25,000 miles in total
There is a good level of paperwork reported available with the Jaguar
This included the current V5 registration document
The current MOT is valid until March 2024
Despite its low mileage the Jaguar has been fastidiously serviced
The original service book is present and documents a full Jaguar Dealer service history
This amounts to six services covering mileages from 3,874 to 24,863
The most recent service was in June 2022 and a mere 400 miles ago
The Interior
The Jaguar XKR cabin combines both a sporting and luxurious ambiance
This example features an attractive Ivory and black cabin
The seats are finished in perforated soft grain leather
These are heavily bolstered for optimum support and comfort
The front seats are 10-way electrically adjustable with three stage heating
A three-setting memory function is included and also adjusts mirrors and steering column
The occasional rear seats are identically trimmed and equally pristine
The door cards and rear side panels are finished in a mix of ivory and black
These and the light, suede effect headlining are pristine and original
The carpets are finished in black and are protected by Jaguar carpet mats in the front
The dashboard is finished in stitched black leather top and bottom rolls
The centre section is finished with a matt alloy accent panel
The “R” inscribed, white on black dials sit within a hooded binnacle
These are behind the three-spoke, leather multifunction steering wheel
The centre console houses the liquid crystal display screen
This includes a six-zone message centre including trip computer
This also manages the controls of the Bowers and Wilkins premium sound system
A satellite navigation and Bluetooth telephone system are also included
The boot is surprisingly commodious and accessed via the big opening hatch
The boot floor is protected by rubber topped chromed rubbing strips
An underfloor storage area houses tools, jack and associated equipment
The Exterior
Given its mileage and history the car presents beautifully
The metallic grey paintwork exudes a dep and lustrous shine throughout
The bodywork is equally well presented throughout
All the XKR specific touches are present and correct
These include the lovely, quad chromed tail pipes
The “Supercharged” embossed, body coloured bonnet louvres are present
The aluminium finish mesh grill inserts and side vents round off the look
The XKR sits purposefully on the optional 20-inch “Nevis” alloy wheels
Theses have embossed centre sections bearing the “Supercharged Jaguar” text
These present in an excellent condition and allow sight of the R inscribed red callipers
A matching set of quality Michelin Pilot Sport tyres are fitted
These are a staggered set with 285/30s at the rear and 255/35s at the front
The light lenses and cabin glass all appear to be in excellent, original condition
The Mechanics
The highlight of the Jaguar XKR is always going to be that sublime supercharged V8
This is an all alloy, quad overhead camshaft 32 valve 4,196cc unit
An Eaton supercharger and intercooler are also fitted
In this guise this unit was originally rated at 420bhp at 6,250rpm
An impressive 413Ib-ft of torque was also on tap
The power is fed to the rear wheels via a six speed ZF automatic transmission
The suspension is fully independent fitted with eCATS adaptive dampers
Brakes are highly specified 355mm and 326mm vented discs front and rear
The under-bonnet presentation is very good and entirely original
Extensive engine covers are fitted complete with Supercharged embossing
Given the car’s mileage and full Jaguar service history this is a well-sorted example
The owner attests to its mechanicals being “like new”
Summary
The appeal of this XKR should be obvious to anyone with a penchant for hugely powerful and sophisticated GT cars. A curvy British GT car hiding a very powerful supercharged V8 under a long, curved bonnet is a great place to start, of course.
Add into that already heady mix the appeal of our example’s lovely and popular colourway and its sumptuously appointed leather interior and you have something very appealing indeed. The sublime 20-inch Nevis wheels only help to lend the car an extra dose of muscular road presence.
The car’s very light usage across a mere three owners combined with a full Jaguar service history and long MOT should provide the ultimate in reassurance. With XKRs of this mileage and provenance increasingly hard to find, this potential ownership opportunity deserves your attention and bids.
