The Appeal
This Morris Eight was a project owned by an engineer and metal fabricator who intended to restore it and return the car to the road.
Unfortunately, the owner is now unable to restore the car, so the Morris is being put up for sale for someone else to complete.

Produced from 1935 to 1948 the Morris Eight was inspired by the popular sales of the Ford Model Y of which the Morris’ styling closely resembled. The Eight was so successful, it enabled the manufacturer to regain its title of Britain’s largest motor manufacturer.
The History and Paperwork
The Morris only has its current V5 and some original operation manuals, the current owner has no more paperwork so it would require a more thorough investigation to ascertain the car’s history.
The Interior
The interior is mainly complete but is very tatty and worn and would most likely need to be removed and restored along with the rest of the car.
The two front seats and the rear bench however are present along with the door cards and some rear panelling, the dials and steering wheel are also present.
The floor looks to be in good shape, but the front bulkhead is not currently in the car.

The Exterior
The body of the Morris is obviously mid restoration and as such still has some of the parts that have not been attended to, the car is all there however with the driver’s side sill being the only exception.
The main thing is the frame underneath the car which seems to be in good condition, with a lick of black hammerite it looks to be fairly solid. The car has its original bumpers and even the convertible top frame as well as the engine covering and front cowl.
The tilting windscreen is also in good working order and is uncracked and relatively damage free.

The Mechanics
The current engine block in the car has a small hairline crack but the car comes with a spare block for the restoration.
Obviously, the car wasn’t started because of this but the internals of the engine are believed to be ok. The car moved forward and back easily on the day of the shoot and the steering rack moved smoothly and freely.

Summary
This part restored project needs someone to take it on and finish it in the way it deserves, the car would also be perfect for some classic hot rod style modifications with maybe a body chop or a different frame and a big engine.
It could even be perfect for a period racer style build as the Eights were quicker and much better equipped back in the day than the Austin 7’s.
