In the early 1960s, if you wanted a reliable mode of transport for you and your family, then the Singer Vogue is one which was considered to be a reasonable purchase. The Vogue offered plenty of room, a nice interior and reasonable performance, whilst affordable to the average family at approximately £956, which got you a small luxury car on a budget.
This car is the Series I, and was restored by the vendor approximately ten years ago and has been used very lightly since then, covering around 500 miles in that time. The interior is all original and presents well with some slight patina showing, as you would expect from a vehicle of this age. Mechanically the vendor reports the car to run extremely well. There are some blemishes on the body, but still highly usable and, in reality, it is now becoming quite a rare car to find.

THE INTERIOR
The interior is the original
The seats are in good condition with some light patina, as you would expect for the age
There is a small split on the seam of the driver's seat
Like the seats, the door cards have some patina on the driver's door which has a small tear caused by the window winder, and the wood top trim has some lacquer lifting
The dashboard looks to be original, and there is a split in the top section
The dashboard fascia has some delamination of the lacquered finish in places, around the instruments
The vendor reports the instruments and gauges work correctly
Oil pressure, water temperature and ammeter gauges as standard
The odometer has a reading of 67,480 miles
Heater controls and switchgear look to be in good condition
Period looking or possibly the factory radio is in place
The original Vogue steering wheel looks in nice condition
The red carpets are in a presentable condition with a small amount of wear, mainly to the driver's side
Inside the boot, the flooring would benefit from a clean, but the boot floor looks to be solid with no apparent signs of corrosion
THE EXTERIOR
Fully resprayed in Anthracite Grey Metallic
The headlights and indicators are in good order with no damage to the lenses
The chrome headlight surrounds are in good condition, with just a small amount of tarnishing
The grille does have some surface corrosion which has broken through the chrome
There is a small amount of tarnishing on the front bumper
Viewing the car, the panel gaps for the doors, boot and bonnet all align nicely
There are no dings or dents to point out
There is some blistering on the lower sections of the wheel arches
A few minor age-related scratches and chips are present in keeping with how long the vehicle has been restored
Windows are in good condition with no excessive scratches to point out
The window seals look to be good and free from perishing
The rear light lenses have no splits or cracks
The rear bumper is like the front and has a small amount of patina
The wheels look in good order and are fitted with the factory spec hub caps
Equipped with four matching Marshal tyres which have a good amount of tread remaining
Looking under the car, there is some surface corrosion on the floor and suspension components
THE MECHANICS
1.6 litre engine
Four-speed manual gearbox
Reported to start with a little bit of choke
Stainless steel exhaust fitted in 2022
The vendor reports the car drives as it should, with no untoward noises coming from the transmission, and the gear change is smooth
No untoward noises are reported to come from the suspension
The brakes are said to bring the Singer to a stop in a straight line
The engine bay is finished in the once Burgundy colour, and there didn’t appear to be any leaks when we visited the vehicle
SUMMARY
With its stylish looks, typical of the 1960s, the Singer Vogue is being moved out of a substantial collection. The vendor has used the car little and often over his ten-year ownership whilst maintaining it regularly to ensure everything is as it should be.
Some trim bits have suffered from corrosion to the front end and there are some blisters to the wheel arches. But with that said, the car is, without a doubt a great usable classic.
