The Appeal
The quintessential British sports car needs no introduction. This MGB GT was manufactured in Abingdon in 1975 and is a special edition to celebrate fifty years since Cedil Kimber founded Morris Garages. This model featured many features which set it apart from other MGBs, including the gold painted wheels, gold badges and distinctive paint scheme.
This particular car has been undergoing restoration and is seeking a new owner to finish the project. Once complete, it will be a great example of this rare version of Britain’s favourite classic car.

The Interior

The Jubilee MGBs were sold with all the bells and whistles when new, including full carpeting, heated rear screen, and even headrests.
The interior of this car is well-worn, with the cloth seats ripped in a few places and the dashboard in need of a thorough clean.
But most importantly, everything appears to be largely present and correct, even the distinctive gold jubilee badge remains on the dashboard – these were not fitted in the factory, instead being sent out to dealers.
The Exterior

Work has been started on the exterior of the vehicle. The car currently wears a coat of primer and is awaiting application of its original British racing green paintwork and decals.
Most of the exterior fittings are not currently mounted but are still with the car. This includes the rubber bumpers, which this model was one of the first to wear.
A glass sunroof has been fitted and the vendor states that it remains in good working order. And of course the gold painted wheels are a fantastic finishing touch. Reassuringly an invoice is present for four new tyres fitted in 2019.
The Mechanics

In addition to the cosmetic enhancements to the Jubilee edition, the drivetrain benefitted from an overdrive gearbox as standard. This allows for relaxed motorway cruising and a significant reduction in fuel consumption.
The vendor believes that the car has received a replacement engine at some point in its life. He informs us that the car is mechanically very good, with everything working as it should.
Summary
This Jubilee edition MGB GT is something a little different. It offers the opportunity for the next owner to complete its restoration to the standard they desire, reassured by the brilliant availability of spare parts and expertise.
