BMW sent shockwaves through the entire car industry in 1999 when it launched its first SUV. The X5 was one of the first premium off-roaders, a car that would set a substantial precedent for the entire market.
Most manufacturers followed suit, but the X5 was one of the first truly luxurious SUVs this side of a Range Rover.
Today, those early X5s are on the cusp of becoming quite collectable, their contribution to the car industry widely recognised. But good, low mileage ones are few and far between, which makes this one an especially enticing proposition. It’s a genuine low-miler – a 3.0i in Sport specification with the popular ‘M54’ straight-six under the bonnet, one previous keeper and presented in very good, unmolested condition. 6Whp2udxveXT0CG5mkY3IHYwmEszSpjvbHG96j8r.jpg1.72 MB
Good first-generation X5s are getting fewer and further between, which makes this example a bit of a find. It’s in great overall condition and is a smart low-mileage example with an exceptional interior, good bodywork and it’s apparently in great mechanical order. It’s also the most efficient petrol example of the model and one of the least expensive to run, as well as being exempt from the London ULEZ charge.
