The Appeal
The Daimler Double Six represented the pinnacle of the XJ saloon range, combining Jaguar's refined 6.0-litre V12 with the prestige of the Daimler marque. In long-wheelbase form, it offered a level of space and luxury that few contemporaries could match, and it remains an elegant way to travel in comfort and style.
This 1996 example has covered fewer than 40,000 miles from new, with its online MOT history lending confidence to the indicated figure. Finished in Arctic White, the vendor describes the coachwork as looking terrific, while the cream leather-trimmed cabin features tasteful walnut trim, and heated seats at both front and rear. Under the bonnet, the 6.0-litre V12 is described by the vendor as barely audible and wonderfully under-stressed. For those seeking an imposing yet understated grand touring saloon with genuine presence, this Daimler Double Six would make a fine choice.
