The Appeal
The "blobeye" generation Subaru Impreza WRX remains a firm favourite among performance car enthusiasts, thanks to its turbocharged boxer engine, symmetrical all-wheel drive, and rally-bred DNA.
This 2004 example has been in the hands of its current keeper since 2013, and the accompanying paperwork suggests it is fitted with the Prodrive Performance Pack (PPP). This official, manufacturer-approved upgrade was developed by the Banbury-based motorsport specialists Prodrive to enhance the power and responsiveness of the standard WRX without voiding the factory warranty. It comprises a recalibrated engine management system, a high-flow intercooler hose and a stainless-steel exhaust silencer, working together to boost the car’s power output from to 221bhp to 261bhp, and increase maximum torque to an impressive 257ft-lb.
The vendor describes it as fun to drive and very comfortable as a daily, though notes that the engine requires attention, positioning this as an ideal candidate for an engine rebuild or similar project. The interior, while showing wear consistent with 150,000 miles, is said to remain in good condition. With no history of total loss or major structural issues, this WRX offers a sound basis for an enthusiast ready to invest in bringing it back to its best.
