The Plus

Referred to internally as the "190S", in recognition of its status as Peugeot's 190th distinct design, the new 5CV was to be the company's last car before the introduction of the three-digit nomenclature (with a "0" as the second digit) that it still uses today. The 190S was also the last Peugeot to be delivered with a wooden body, truly marking the end of an era for the marque, and is therefore a historically significant car for collectors passionate about French classics.
We are delighted to present this fantastic opportunity to restore one of these cars, a 190S 'Coach' project already started by the previous owner. The chassis and axles have already undergone some restoration work, providing a solid base for further rebuilding. For those with the skills to hand build their own body, or perhaps build a 'special' of their own design, this could be a fabulous project to undertake.

History and documentation

  • Although the vendor is unsure of the exact year of manufacture of this example, the 190S was only produced for three years, between 1928 and 1931.
  • The restoration project has been started, but obviously still needs to be completed
  • Currently unregistered - No registration document or roadworthiness certificate
  • Chassis plate present

Condition

  • The chassis has been restored and appears to be in very good condition
  • The bodywork is incomplete and requires partial restoration/replacement
  • Although some parts of the wooden structure remain, they require extensive repair or replacement
  • The brass radiator appears to be in fairly good condition for its age
  • The wheels appear to have been restored and a number of new tyres fitted, allowing the project to run smoothly
  • The front wings are fitted and appear to be in good condition

The mechanics

  • The axles and suspension appear to have been restored to a good standard
  • 695 cm3 four-cylinder engine
  • Three-speed manual gearbox
  • The engine is fitted but appears to be partially dismantled
  • The gearshift linkage is in place, as is the driveshaft
  • Accompanied by several boxes containing various mechanical components that have been removed from the car
