The Appeal
The Mk VI is pivotal to Bentley’s development. It was the firm’s first new post-war car and the first to be supplied as a fully factory-built model. As such it sounded the death knell for coachbuilding and paved the way for the firm’s modern success.
When the average house price in 1947 was £620, buying a MkVI would set you back at least £3,000, equivalent to 10 contemporary Austin saloons. Yet over 5,000 left the works, and today these cars are valued by collectors for their historic significance and sheer usability.
This gorgeous two-tone silver 1947 car is in really lovely condition. The paintwork is matched by a smart grey leather cabin with blue carpets. The history file includes photographs of the car on display at Brooklands Museum, and it is said to have appeared in the Father Brown TV series.
We are told that it is a nice, tidy and good-running car and has recently received a new clutch. The MOT history indicates regular but sparing use.
