The Appeal
The Mk VI is central to Bentley’s development. It was the firm’s first all-new postwar model and the first to be offered as a fully factory-built car. As such it signaled the end of coachbuilding and paved the way for the company’s modern success.
When the average house price in 1947 was £620, buying a MkVI would set you back at least £3,000, equivalent to 10 contemporary Austin sedans. Yet over 5,000 left the factory, and today these cars are prized by collectors for their historical significance and practical usability.
This gorgeous two-tone silver 1947 car is in truly lovely condition. The paint is matched by a smart grey leather cabin with blue carpets. The history file includes photos of the car on display at Brooklands Museum, and it’s said to have appeared in the Father Brown TV series.
We’re told that it’s a nice, tidy, well-running car and has recently received a new clutch. The MOT history shows regular but sparing use.
