Lancia has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with Italian coachbuilder Zagato. Together they have designed a series of beautiful, lightweight sports cars, many of which have gone on to compete and shine in the most prestigious concours d'élégance.
The car on display here is one of the rarest Lancia bodied by Zagato, one of only 368 Appia Gran Turismo Esportazione (GTE) Berlinettas produced. The seller informs us that this is one of 130 examples with streamlined headlights, of which only 51 still exist according to the Gino Giugno register.
This Lancia benefited from a complete restoration between 2014 and 2020 and is equipped with an upgraded "Bosato specification" engine as well as a five-speed gearbox. In addition, it is accompanied by its original engine and gearbox, both rebuilt.

Reminiscent of a scaled-down Flaminia Super Sport, this Zagato Appia GTE Berlinetta is undoubtedly one of the most elegant cars ever to carry the Lancia badge. True to the Zagato philosophy, it is aerodynamic and light, weighing in at just 800 kg.
