The Appeal
The Ford Capri Perana is a legendary South African performance car, created by Basil Green Motors. It was an impressive old game, taking the already much-loved Capri and turning it into a formidable muscle car. From its introduction, it boasted the Essex V6 from the Ford Mustang, but it saw a much-respected upgrade to the Windsor V8 shortly after. Mated to a 4-speed Ford Toploader transmission and subject to gentle modifications, it was beyond impressive - and quickly began proving itself on the track.
Officially, the Capri Perana was only sold in "Bright Yellow" and "Piri Piri Red", the two liveries for which became synonymous with the iconic sports car. They've now become the stuff of legend, and the definition of desirable - only 500 were built, and that impressive performance is enough to turn the heads of even the most jaded enthusiast. These rare vehicles represented the pinnacle of South African muscle car engineering in the early 1970s, with performance that could - reportedly - challenge contemporary Ferraris and Porsches at a fraction of the cost.

Here we have an exceedingly accurate evocation, built using the factory-correct parts. They took an original Perana which had unfortunately been accident-damaged. They took the rare original parts and fitted them to a good shell, making this rather fine Capri resplendent in factory-accurate Bright Yellow paintwork.
