The most 

Has a car ever done so much to challenge the status quo? We don't think so. The Citroën DS pioneered the use of hydraulic systems, front-wheel drive and aerodynamic design.

The latest models were the most advanced, with the addition of power steering and fuel injection to improve the car's usability.

This 1971 DS 21, in the top-of-the-range Pallas version, is a superb example. It has been repainted to a high standard in the rare and beautiful Bronze Metallic, while the essential hydropneumatic system has been overhauled.

If you're looking for a DS with a high specification, this is a unique opportunity.

Condition

  • Bronze Metallic refinished to a high standard
  • Straight, clean bodywork with no indication of accidental damage or corrosion
  • Various chrome and stainless steel trims look good, including Pallas elements
  • Pallas leather upholstery
  • New headliner fitted
  • Torn leather on driver's seat, but otherwise no noticeable seat wear
  • We are not aware of any known problems with cab electronics/signalling

Powertrain

  • 2.2-litre (2,175 cc) naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection
  • Four-speed semi-automatic transmission
  • Hydraulic system and alternator recently overhauled
  • Many parts replaced during current ownership period
  • The vendor reports that there is nothing to do; everything has apparently been serviced as it goes along
  • The DS is reported to run faultlessly, with no known problems to report
