The Appeal
We can only imagine the attention this Karmann must have drawn during its first 15 years, pottering around Sicily amongst the tiny Fiat 500s. It was imported to the UK in 1989 by an RAF officer, and we’re told has covered just 17,000 km since arrival. The odometer now shows 49,121 kms, which we’re told is correct.
Classically finished in white with a black vinyl interior and a matching fabric roof, this is a really tidy 1300 Karmann. It has clearly been cherished and looked after, as a large history file with handwritten notes from the current long-term keeper attests. We love the details, like the chrome arches, wheel trims, and the original Bosch radio.
The paintwork presents well following an older respray. There are a few points to note in the photos, but nothing that overly detracts. It is a mark of the current keeper’s approach that the car has been regularly MOT’d, despite this not being a legal requirement. The current voluntary test runs to July 2026 with no advisories.
