The Appeal
Lancia had a gift for making elegant and airy coupes – think of the Gamma – that had poise as well as performance. The front wheel-drive Fulvia coupe of 1963 was no exception, and today retains that grace that is highly sought-after in tow-door cars. This fairly late production S3 has the slightly more curvaceous ‘flared headlight’ front end and is presented in a striking shade of yellow only found on the S3. Better still, it’s as good underneath as it is on top, with very solid floors and a rust-free body all round.

Summary
This really is a very sweet car combining everything you want from a Seventies Italian coupe; chic looks, nice road manners and a sporty Italian engine. Better yet, it is rust-free and very solid underneath. The car has been garaged (when not in use) for at least the last 25 years. It somehow manages the trick of being striking without being brash, while the gently flared headlights give the front end a more purposeful look. A car for those who don’t need to try too hard. Whatever the hammer price, it will probably be a bargain.
