The Appeal
The GTI may have always grabbed the headlines, but the 205 was really always about cars like this - the simpler, fuss-free Junior family runaround. This car adds the Pininfarina-designed cabriolet to deliver a really tidy, unprepossessing four-seat open top classic.
The car is in pleasingly original and unrestored condition. The white paintwork, including the bumpers, are pleasingly free of obvious damage, while the blue fabric ‘Junior’ cabin is in really good order. The big folding vinyl roof works well and the car even has its protective tonneau.
The vendor tells us that he is the second keeper and acquired the car in 2001. That long ownership enables him to verify the low displayed mileage. He tells us that the car has always been garaged when not in use. The maintenance includes new shock absorbers, alternator, brake work and a battery. The car comes with a useful Controle Technique valid to June 2030.
The Junior Cabriolet is getting very rare these days. This one is a neat reminder of why they are so appealing to those who like their classic open top motoring to be simple and fuss-free.
