Who doesn't love the Fiat Panda? Make it a 4X4 model and that ardour increases exponentially, such is the diminutive Italian's charm. Designed by the inimitable Giorgetto Giugiaro the original Panda was a hugely popular city car that captured the hearts and minds of the car buying public and today it represents a cheap and fun way into classic car ownership.
The 4X4 version arrived in '83. Fitted with a 965cc inline four-cylinder it featured selectable all-wheel drive, making it the first small, transverse-engined production car to offer such a system, adding an extra dimension of usability to an already hugely practical runabout.
This 1989 example may need restoring but it appears to be complete and far from basket case material. Could this be the perfect fun project? It's covered just over 85K kms and looks to be in pretty decent shape.
The underneath looks solid and there's no evidence of any major rot or damage. These cars are notoriously simple to work on and with decent parts support getting everything you need to bring this cutie back to its best should be a doddle.
