The Appeal
Audi had the Quattro, Ford had the Cosworth. The high performance Sierra really was something quite special: a proper ‘Fast Ford’ in the homologated tradition of the earlier RS Escorts, one that squeezed over 200bhp out of its 2L, Cosworth-fettled engine.
The Sapphire four door made this road rocket into a practical family wagon too. Few cars in the late 80s and early 90s were as tail-waggingly fun to pilot as a good one.
And here is exactly that. It is an exceptionally low mileage - 48,000 miles - car that has had just three keepers in its 36 years. The condition is impressive and, crucially, factory standard - only a bigger, stainless steel exhaust deviants from Ford specifications. There is even an original Ford stereo.
The car is owned by a RS enthusiast - as you can clearly see in the photos - and has been maintained by a specialist during his ownership. Recent work includes a new head gasket and cambelt and regular servicing.
Finished in classic white, this very tidy Sapphire Cosworth comes with MOT to September 2025.
