The Appeal
The Range Rover Classic needs little introduction. By 1991, the addition of the 3.9-litre V8 EFI engine had cemented its reputation as the definitive luxury off-roader, equally at home on a country estate as it was in the streets of the capital. Today, the model enjoys a devoted and growing following, with well-sorted examples becoming increasingly difficult to find.
This 1991 3.9 EFI has benefited from a painstaking, body-off restoration spanning two years, the progress of which was followed and documented by a Polish classic car publication. The scope of the work is remarkable: the body was lifted from the chassis, which was then sandblasted, inspected and sealed, while the body itself was galvanised and repainted following minor welding above the rear wheel arches. Mechanically, the engine was completely rebuilt from top to bottom, rebored, with a skimmed head, new camshaft, timing chain, and all ancillaries replaced or reconditioned. The original automatic gearbox, both axles, the transfer box, and the entire steering assembly were all reconditioned as part of the same programme. Even the wiring loom was replaced in its entirety.
Inside, the cabin has been retrimmed to a high standard with "Bentley" leather hides covering the seats, door panels, steering wheel and dashboard, complemented by new carpets, a chocolate headlining, and freshly stripped and re-varnished woodwork. Thoughtful enhancements include heated front seats, an electric sunroof, a discreetly integrated Hi-Fi system, Apple navigation, and a rear reversing camera.
Originally owned by a Paris-based family who used it in the South of France, the car was acquired by the current keeper in 2015 and subsequently brought to Poland for its restoration. Since its completion, it has covered just 3,000km, driven only in fair weather and kept in a secure underground garage in Central Warsaw. The vendor informs us that the car is in virtually as-new condition, and its appearances at numerous classic car exhibitions in Poland speak to the quality of the finished result. For those seeking a comprehensively restored Range Rover Classic with well-documented provenance and meticulous ongoing care, this is a compelling proposition.image.png1.23 MB
