The Appeal
The 993 looked a lot, thankfully, like its air-cooled predecessors, but it was to all intents and purposes a new car. Reviewers and buyers lauded its much-improved handling. It also perfected the art of ‘Targa’ roofs, finally delivering a design that retained the coupe’s curving profile.
That, plus the fact very few Targas were built, makes this late model 1997 car very appealing. Classically finished in silver over a light grey leather cabin, it is a well-kept car that has been properly looked after by its trio of keepers. The M64 3.6L 285bhp flat six is allied to Porsche’s innovative ‘Tiptronic’ gearbox that allows fully automatic or sequential shift options.
The market seems to like the 993 because it arguably perfects the original air-cooled recipe. Good examples like this, with impressive specialist maintenance, stand out. It comes to market with the added reassurance of an MOT valid to June 2026 with no advisories.
