The Appeal

Jaguar invented the fast saloon with the original 3.8L Mk2. 30 years later the X300 XJR set its sights on retaking the crown, but it was the later V8-powered 370bhp X308 that achieved it. More characterful and stylish than a M5, this was a super saloon that could crack 60 from standstill in 5secs.

This car’s British Racing Green paintwork is therefore wholly appropriate. We are told that it was restored some years ago and it is now in very good, usable condition, wearing its 27 years lightly. Inside there is an Oatmeal interior with the usual preponderance of wood and leather to please traditionalists.

The vendor acquired this car in 2022 and has continued the work of previous keepers to maintain it to a high standard. The service book shows 21 stamps we are told. Since he bought it work has included new head gasket, timing chains and a gearbox overhaul. The full list of work, which runs to a considerable length, is detailed below. The current MOT runs to November 2025.

The XJR makes a very entertaining road car, and this well-maintained car looks tempting.
