The Appeal
If it didn’t quite invent it, Jaguar certainly perfected the sporting saloon. The Mk2 was virtually a four door E-Type and the later S-Type was exactly that. But the firm relinquished its crown for many years in favour of a more relaxed, unruffled approach to progress.
That all changed with the arrival of first the XJR6 and then the X308 XJR with V8 power. These cars firmly took the fight to BMW, the latter in particular offering the sort of 400bhp, supercharged urge that could worry M5s.
The X308 is garnering renewed attention from enthusiasts who value its classically styled good looks and old-school Jaguar sporting charms. Survivors are rare, particularly ones with relatively low mileage and good history, but we have found one.
Appropriately finished in BRG with a contrasting ivory interior, it is a very smart example with good history and a long MOT. Inside and out it is in great condition. Devastatingly quick yet sumptuously equipped, this is peak classic saloon and well worth your attention.
History and Paperwork
- UK car first registered on 30th January 1998
- Just five owners from new with current owner since 27th June 2017
- Book pack with factory leather wallet in well kept condition
- Service book shows 16 stamps by specialists and main dealers to 77,917 miles in June 2017
- Subsequent invoices for servicing work shown in photographs
- Most recently serviced at 105,028 miles in June 2023 including replacing coil springs

The Condition
- Classically finished in British Racing Green with Ivory leather interior
- Condition inside, out and under is very well kept with only very minor signs of age
- Bodywork is particularly well kept with no visible deterioration to arches, sills or other common X308 areas
- There are some minor scuffs and marks to front and rear but not significant or unsightly
- Smart five spoke 18in factory XJR standard alloy wheels in good order with only light marks
- Original dealer plates fitted
- Quality Kumho tyres fitted all round with advisories noted on recent MOT
- Fitted with a Jaguar bonnet leaper and factory optional headlamp washers
- Well kept Ivory leather interior in good order with seats in particular betraying few signs of use
- Walnut veneers in good order with only small crack visible to driver’s door card
- Door cards in similar condition, driver’s showing slight trim pull
- As is typical for this model the fabric trim in the door card pockets is loose
- Carpets well kept and protected by overmats trimmed to match the interior and exterior finish
- Carpet in rear seat area shows some marks on transmission tunnel
- Dashboard and centre console and switchgear all well kept and includes original factory radio
- Headlining appears to be original and is sagging towards back as is common to this model
- This is a relatively easy repair
- Sunroof model with large steel electric panel
- High end Harman Kardon speaker system and Parrot phone system fitted
- Wood and leather optional factory steering wheels
