The Appeal
When Mazda launched the MX5, the chaps in Turin must have been not a little surprised. Here was an usurper encroaching on Fiat’s traditional two-seat convertible toes. They wasted no time responding with this car, the gorgeous ‘little boat’ Barchetta.
The new car took proven Punto underpinnings and clothed it in a beautifully detailed body. Note the classic-looking steel wheels, flush door handles and drizzle of body colour trim inside. This car is a fantastic reminder of just how pretty these cars because with less than 6,000 miles from new it is barely altered from the day it left the UK showroom.
Classically finished in red, it is in very good condition. It is no surprise that both Classic Cars and Modern Classics magazines used this actual car to help explain why you want to buy one.
In July 2024 the car went to specialist Jamie Porter for fresh cambelt and service. It comes to market with advisory-free MOT to June 2025. This is a collector-quality example and surely one of the best available anywhere.
