The Appeal
It’s been 106 years since W. O. Bentley founded a car company and turned a winged letter B into a symbol of engineering excellence and boundless performance. By the time the Arnage debuted in 1998, Bentley was renowned for its timelessness, and its first new car for almost two decades sported a silken appearance which still conveys a sense of presence today.
Described by the current owner as being in pristine condition both inside and out, and “a real gentleman’s carriage”, this Arnage is a Mulliner T model. That identifies it has having been crafted by Bentley’s coachbuilding artisans, who in this case have mated Black Sapphire metallic paint with a cream-themed interior and contrasting navy/blue carpets. Discreet Mulliner badges adorn the wings, appropriately enough, while the word is also stamped into the kickplates extending up to the royal blue carpets.
This car’s greatest merit is its remarkably low mileage, attested to by a detailed portfolio of service and maintenance documentation. This in turn explains the immaculate nature of the interior, whose sumptuous cream quilted leather has clearly been cared for by current and previous owners alike, retaining its stitched Bentley logos below the headrests. The interior chromework and polished wooden inserts are in excellent condition, while period features like an Alpine DVD player and door-mounted remote control have been lovingly preserved as timepieces of this car’s Millennial origins.
