The Appeal
The E46 M3 features the final evolution of the M-Division’s normally aspirated straight 6 engine. This high revving S54 engine is revered by enthusiasts. It is the choice unit for many BMW race cars.
In this car it is mated to the M Sport sequential gearbox to deliver a car that will cruise around peacefully in drive or shift quickly using the paddles when required.
This low mileage, well kept and specified early E46 with its convertible roof and hard top would make a great sunny days car. It has been recently serviced by Spartan, the M3 specialist and is sold with a fresh advisory free MOT.

The Mechanicals
- 3,246cc S54 straight six BMW engine developing 330bhp
- SMG II 6spd automatic gearbox with sequential shift functions
- Vendor reports that the engine fires instantly, sounds very healthy and pulls hard
- We are informed that the engine shows no smoke, knocking or known issues
- SMG pump replaced less than 5,000 miles ago
- The vendor tells us that the gearbox functions/shifts perfectly
- Brake discs and pads show minimal wear all around
- Front discs and pads replaced at 44,099 miles
- New started motor professionally fitted at 46,444 miles due to slow solenoid
- Scorpion rear box that we are told sounds lovely and is not too noisy with hood up or down
