The Marcos LM range, built upon the existing Mantara platform, returned the Marcos brand to racing in the 1990s.
Fitted with a Rover 3. 9L V8, which provides a good mix of performance and reliability, this particular LM400 is one of the first to be fitted with steel floors, giving greater footwell space for both the driver and passenger. It is also fitted with an OEM brake servo, an extremely rare option that, in combination with the hydraulic power steering, makes driving the car effortless.
Off the road for the past few years, we have carried out a recommissioning of the car to bring it to roadworthy status, which included: new braided brake lines, discs and pads, new aluminium fuel tank, replacement of perishables and a detailed service. In addition to this recent work, we replaced the sill tubes on both sides of this LM in 2017, so, having been dry stored since, the underside is in good order.
Finished in Balmoral Metallic Green, the paintwork is more than presentable though it would benefit from detailing in a few areas, particularly the bonnet, which has a few minor blemishes. Besides the bodywork, the car sits on its original Image split rim wheels and is fitted with a black hood which is in fair condition for the car?s age.
On the inside, matching green carpets are contrasted by faun leather trim and a Burr Elm dashboard, the latter holding Smiths ?white over black? instruments. As with the exterior, the interior is in reasonable condition.
This LM is fitted with Marcos? usual features, all of which are functional: electrically adjustable pedals, electric mirror glasses, electric windows and a heated screen.
