The Appeal
In 1969, British Leyland entrusted Roy Haynes with the challenging and important task of designing a new restyled model of the classic Mini. The car was already ten years old and to the managers at Longbridge it was beginning to look a little dated. The new version was christened the Clubman and featured a more modern design, characterised by a longer, squarer front end, while the rest of the car remained largely unchanged from the previous model.
Conceived as a luxury version of the Mini, the safer and more fully-equipped Clubman met the demands of the most discerning drivers of the 1970s, but however popular it was, it did not replace the legendary original Issigonis design in the hearts of enthusiasts. It is, however, a particularly rare and coveted version of one of the icons of British motoring, today one of the best-known and best-loved classic cars, especially with station wagon or Estate bodywork, like the one we are pleased to present.
Offered in a rare colour combination that is indeed very elegant and attractive, this car with its unmistakable retro charm looks stunning and we have been told it is solid and well maintained, with its original interior still in excellent condition.
