The Appeal
When Morris needed a boost to its fortunes in the 1930s, it looked for inspiration and alighted on the hugely successful Ford Model Y. Borrowing the car’s stylish, rugged, simple ethos but making it better, the firm hit on a winner - the resulting 8 was a sales success and put Morris back in market contention.
This pretty 8 is an early one, a 1935 Series I car with the 918cc sidevalve engine. It is an older restoration that gained its attractive black over green colour scheme, split by a gold coachline, in 2000. There is also a well-kept green leather cabin with useful space for four.
The car is part of the current keeper’s collection and has been used regularly but sparingly since the last advisory-free MOT in 2015. It presents tidily, with scope to improve, but looks usable.
