The HRG 1100 Sports represents the beginning of the British era of lightweight, compact roadsters. Its production spans the pre- and post-Second World War era, with this 1949 example being one of only 49 cars ever produced.
This 1100 Sports features the two-seater sports body, lightweight traditional construction, and is powered by a 1074cc Singer-derived engine with a three-bearing crankshaft and a single overhead cam, which was then fettled by HRG to improve its power output.
During their heyday, HRG cars were renowned not only for their vintage styling but also for their superbly balanced handling. These characteristics earned the 1100 Sports a reputation as a serious contender in motorsport and club events. This example is VSCC eligible, making it an ideal entrant for historic rallies and trials. With just a handful of examples produced and even fewer coming up for sale today, this example presents in excellent order, benefiting from recent maintenance work and an extensive history file.
The vendor says
“A unique opportunity to purchase an HRG 1100 roadster which rarely comes available for sale. Built on traditional production lines, HRG sportscars were very handsome and light with excellent roadholding abilities, which made them very competitive in sporting activities. An attractive and rare British sports car, benefitting from recent re-commissioning and driving, that performs very well indeed.”image.png2.34 MB
