The Appeal
The Mercedes-Benz W120, affectionately known as the Ponton, was the marque's first monocoque-bodied saloon, a landmark in post-war Mercedes engineering. With its distinctive pontoon-shaped flanks and robust build quality, the W120 offered understated elegance and the kind of mechanical longevity for which Mercedes-Benz became renowned. Today, these cars represent an increasingly appealing entry point into classic Mercedes ownership.
This 1960 example, finished in blue, has been in the current owner's care since 2014. A full repaint in the correct shade was reportedly carried out in 2011, and the recently retrimmed seats complement the blue exterior well. The vendor states the engine runs very well and that the car is capable of covering all distances with confidence. Registered in France on a collection carte grise, this Ponton presents well and offers a usable classic.
