Pre-bids

1974 Porsche 914 2.0

Highlights

  • Comprehensively restored over 25 months
  • Approximately £16,000 invested in parts and labour
  • Photographic documentation of every stage of the restoration available

The Appeal

The Porsche 914 was essentially a replacement for the outgoing 912, which in turn had superseded the 356 as Porsche's four-cylinder offering. The 914 changed things up with a mid-engine layout, and styling that was quite unique for its time. Jointly developed with Volkswagen, the 914 became known for its balance and agility, earning it a devoted following. The 2.0-litre variant remains the most desirable of the four-cylinder cars. Increasingly appreciated by collectors and enthusiasts alike, well-presented examples are becoming harder to find.
This 1974 914-4 2.0 was imported from the USA approximately 30 months ago and has since undergone a thorough restoration. The scope of work has been considerable, encompassing bodywork, engine, gearbox, brakes, and a complete interior retrim. The vendor states that no corners were cut, and every stage of the rebuild has been photographed and documented. A few minor items remain outstanding, as noted in the detail below, but the vendor considers the car ready to enjoy, adding that you would be hard-pressed to find a finer 914 in the UK.
