The Appeal
Alfa Romeo’s early 80s ‘Aerodinamica’ study breathed new life into its long-lived Spider. The resulting Series 3 split opinion when new, but today is well-regard. It gives buyers a really stylish two-seater Alfa, the last of the original Duetto ‘kamm tail’ design.
This really tidy, factory-standard Series 3 is a reminder of all that. The rare Blue Medio metallic paintwork suits the lines and is in good condition, likewise the black vinyl interior and fabric roof. The car sits on steel wheels, a pleasing alternative to the more common alloys. Beneath the sculpted bonnet lies the sweet-revving 1,600cc version of Alfa’s classic Nord twin cam.
The car is believed to have spent its life in Germany before arriving in the UK in 1999. The vendor acquired it in 2014 and has used it sparingly. Notable work includes new clutch and both cylinders in 2017, an alternator in 2018 and replacement exhaust in 2024. The brakes were also serviced and overhauled at the same time.
Few classic convertibles are as pretty or charismatic as Alfa’s 105 Spider. This looks like a great example.
The vendor says:
“It’s a great car to drive and a real head turner. I did not like the colour when I first bought the car, but have been surprised by the number of compliments it has received.”
