Truth be told, Porsche had got so much right with the 996 that its successor, the 997, was an evolution of the 911 formula, rather than a revolution. The Porsche 997 offered more refined styling and improved dynamics over its predecessor while maintaining the iconic 911 silhouette that has endured since the early 1960s. Gone were those controversial 996 'fried egg' headlamps, for example, while the interior was given a notable upgrade in quality and feel.
