The Appeal
The original SLK was Mercedes-Benz’ response to the MX5. But this R172 SLK55 is a long way from that: it’s a 410bhp, V8-engined, AMG-tuned road rocket.
Small, light and nimble, the SLK55 is much more Stuttgart’s brutally-engined riposte to the more sober-suited Boxster. It is rarer than the Porsche and sufficiently understated that it will surprise fellow road users.
This 2015 car’s Hyacinth Red metallic finish is a welcome alternative to the more common silvers and greys. Inside there is a sumptuous cream leather cabin. It is all in the sort of well preserved condition you would expect of a car that has covered less than 20,000 miles from new.
The SLK55 is perfect for trans-continental summer holidays or weekend pootling. Whichever you choose, this very smart example is ready to entertain at the press of the throttle.
