The Wolseley 1300 represents one of the most elegant interpretations of the ADO16 range – a model conceived under the guidance of Sir Alec Issigonis and launched in 1962. The ADO16 (Amalgamated Drawing Office project number 16) was Issigonis’ vision of a larger, more refined successor to the Mini, incorporating advanced engineering and packaging that won critical acclaim and commercial success both at home and abroad. The Mk II version, introduced in 1967 (and for Wolseley in October 1968), brought with it the lively 1275cc ‘A’ Series engine, a higher standard of trim, and of course the marque’s hallmark illuminated Wolseley grille.
Finished in Blaze, a particularly rare and desirable factory colour option of its era, this Wolseley 1300 stands out as an exceptionally original example. The car retains its stunning original blue interior, complete with the elegant wooden dashboard and strip-style speedometer, exuding 1960s charm and craftsmanship. It presents in truly time-warp condition, having never been welded; the spot welds in the rear arches and the original seams along the sills remain clearly visible.
