Description
This 1978 MGB Roadster is an original California car offered as a straightforward recommissioning project. The odometer shows just 48. 685 miles.
The car is largely unrestored and retains its original character. It was originally delivered in a brighter red and was repainted maroon many years ago. The paint is now tired with peeling around several panel edges.
The body appears mostly solid. Minor rust bubbles are visible in the rear dogleg areas and lower front fenders, which is typical for MGBs.
We recently brought the engine back to life in our workshop. It runs with good oil pressure and still retains its original single Stromberg carburettor and smog pump. The engine clearly needs a full service check and recommissioning after years of storage.
The clutch hydraulics are currently not working, so the car is not drivable, although the gearbox selects gears easily. All service items should be checked as most components appear to be several decades old.
The interior is original and largely complete. It would benefit from light refurbishment and a new carpet set. The convertible top is old and will need replacement.
Included with the car are the original jack and tool kit, tonneau cover and some spare parts.
A nice and honest MGB survivor with low mileage and good potential as a recommissioning project.
The car comes with a US California title and Dutch customs documents (EU import duties paid). Transport throughout Europe can be arranged.
