Description
This impressive Land Rover SIII 88” was manufactured in 1983 and arrived with the 42 Commando Royal Marines on the 28th August 1984. It remained with the Marines until being retired to Active-Duty Training likely with the reservists on the 13th of April 1992. Half a year later the ‘Landy’ had seen out its military days, was demobbed and first registered as XUJ583Y on the 10th September 1992.
Having only had 4 keepers since it was registered for civilian use in 1992, it is clear to see the Series III has had a pleasant life and has been subject to a very comprehensive restoration. Overall, the paintwork has held a very nice finish since its full respray albeit with some minor imperfections. The standout features are an incredible corrosion free bulkhead, and its chassis in exceptional condition. Inside the cabin you are met with neatly kept seats in both the front and rear, and there is a heater equipped below the central dials. The military towing apparatus has been replaced with a modern civilian use tow bar and electric adapter. Although without an invoice, it is believed the engine has been subject to an unleaded conversion.
The Lightweight fires on the first time of asking, drives well and would be ideal for taking to local shows or military events.
