Description
WHAT A gem we have here at Martin Howey Classics. It's a 1956 Standard 10 pick-up. A popular little workhorse back in the day but so few survive today due to heavy use. This is not one of those commercials that has been tampered with and given different rear ends/ load bays etc. It carries its original spec and carries its pick-up chassis number on the bulkhead. A true delight and so solid that it is difficult to comprehend. All metal panels are in extraordinary condition and, although not all of the green finish matches, it would be hard to find another example with such rock solid metal. Likewise, the underside is all as it should be and has been treated on a regular basis with old engine oil by way of a preservative.
Looking at the history, it appears it has had just three owners. The first for 15 years, second for a huge 53 years and the third for two years.
This delightful little commercial comes with the same interior as the Standard 10 saloon and even has a heater. Wow! The load bay is in terrific nick - again, all strong metal - and there is a light green cover for the rear which clips on in a taut manner with the aid of two wooden struts which slot in sideways across the two rear quarters.
A lovely little driver and such a rare sight. Have you even seen one at a show? Standard vans and pick-ups were a rare enough sight (so far as I can recall) in the 1960s and 70s, let alone today!
