The Appeal
So you call your Tesla green? Here's a truly green car, three shades of it if we're counting the upholstery! Joking aside, it truly is a green thing to be driving around in a vehicle made ninety years ago, and what a charming old car this 1935 Crossley is.
Experts estimate that only around 1,050 Regis models were made between 1935 and 1937. The story goes that the 10hp originated when Scottish dealer Gordon C McAndrew wanted an updated "Ten" for his personal use, tasking C F Beauvais from New Avon coachbuilders to design the body which was then fitted to a modified 10hp chassis.
Crossley adopted this design to produce the Regis Saloon and the original Beauvais design offered was offered as the Sports Saloon. The Sports Saloon was the popular choice with very few of the standard saloons made.
This Sports Saloon comes with history dating back to the 1990s, and the car has been stored in a dry garage throughout the twenty years of current ownership. It has undergone a recent full engine rebuild which now needs running in; the car has been mostly off the road since it was reinstalled five years ago, covering just twenty miles. It is however offered in driving order, ready for a new owner. Many new parts have been fitted, and many others rebuilt; we've detailed this work in the listing below.
For fans of rare British pre-war saloons, this handsome Sports model from lesser-known marque Crossley would be a superb addition to any garage.image.png5.85 MB
